EDISON PEARLS

The Edison pearl is named after the intelligent inventor, Thomas Edison.

He once said, "There are two things which couldn't be made at my laboratory - diamonds and pearls." The name Edison is a reminder that what is seemingly impossible, can be done.

Edisons Pearl is a breakthrough in pearl farming technology, making pearl in high quality, big, round and variety of colors.

How do they compare to other types of pearls?

Edison pearls are a new species of giant freshwater pearls, with exotic colors combined with the qualities of a saltwater pearl.

Edison pearls are almost perfectly round. They come in sizes of up to ¾ inch, with smooth skin, intense lustre, and many different colors such as purple, pink, bronze, peach, gold, champagne, and white.

The size, shape, luster and colors of Edison pearls are phenomenal, putting these pearls in a class of their own.

How rare and valuable are they?

Edison pearls are the result of many years of research and perfection of the cultivating technique – a significant achievement for the cultured pearl industry.

The latest in a long line of experimentations with freshwater pearls, the Edison pearl aimed to take on the legendary white and golden South Sea pearls from Australia.

Debuting at the Hong Kong Jewelry Shows in 2014, the initial harvests were priced at sky high premiums, especially the perfect round pearls.

Most freshwater mussels produce many small pearls, while Edison mollusks only produce one gem per mollusk, which is why the size of the Edison pearls can be comparable to that of saltwater pearls.
